Planning

So far I have two people scheduled for this week. The one is Louise Vale. After many years she is leaving Grahamstown and I want to hear how she feels about that. I want to ask her, one day when she tells her grandchildren about living in Grahamstown, which stories will she tell them? I'm meeting her Thursday morning at 10am.
The other interviewee is Tristan Jacobs, a freelance actor. I'm meeting him Wednesday afternoon. I will ask him stuff about being a freelance actor in Grahamstown, what he does to survive when it's not Festival, and just about his experiences as an actor here.
This morning I woke up really early, swung the recorder around my neck and had all the intentions to accost strangers in the street for interviews. (The earring man still wasn't on his usual corner, I think he's retired.)
When I stayed in Thompson street just off High street for a month or so there was this security guard, Tumi, who became the self appointed guardian angel of the students living there (often to your annoyance and never for love and charity). I tried to interview him, because he's pretty much a fixture outside Mad Hatters, but the quality of the sound was bad and cars stopped and banged their doors too much and there was nowhere really quiet to go. There was also the language barrier and his insistence on me buying him a coke, so I don't reckon on that material.
Oh well
